Requirements, Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

  • Prepare and maintain financial, treasury and statistical reports, identifying areas of financial opportunity and concern regarding the Credit Union
  • Analyze financial data, monitor variances, identify trends and recommend actions to management
  • Review accounting records, financial statements and other financial reports to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Strive for continuous improvements and efficiencies in current processes
  • Monitor and enforce accounting policies, procedures and related internal controls
  • Coordinate internal and external auditors during audits
  • Assist in the preparation of, and adherence to the annual budget
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements
  • Support and interact with various levels of employees to support the team and drive results
  • Prepare and maintain financial, treasury and statistical reports, including journal vouchers and reconciliations
  • Manage the Finance function including the supervision of one direct report and several indirect reports


Qualifications, Competencies and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
  • An Accounting Designation in good standing CPA/CA/CMA/CGA
  • Proven ability to manage an efficient department
  • Willingness to complete additional courses if necessary
  • Must be bondable
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of diverse and progressive accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of accounts payable & receivable, reconciliations, audit, and credit unions
  • Experience as a financial controller, accounting supervisor or senior accountant
  • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
