Google Pay – the fast, simple way to pay!

Google Pay is the fast, simple way to pay in millions of places — online, in stores, and more. It combines everything you need at checkout and protects your payment info with multiple layers of security. Plus, you can manage your account wherever you want - on the web or in the app. Google Pay doesn’t share your actual card number when you pay in shops, so your information stays secure. Plus, you can check out faster with the device already in your hand – no need to dig for your wallet. To get started, simply add you Motor City Flex Card debit card to your Google Wallet. 

Adding a Card to your Google Wallet is Easy

On your smartphone:

  1. Download Google Wallet from the Google Play Store.
  2. Open the Google Wallet app.
  3. Tap the (+) sign.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to add your Motor City Flex Card

On your wearable:

  1. Open Google Wallet on the watch.
  2. Tap (+) to Add Card to choose from cards on your phone.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the setup.


Where to Use Google Pay

Google Pay using your Motor City Fex Card works wherever Interac® Flash is accepted. Just look for the Interac® Flash logo or contactless symbol at the checkout. Some stores will also display the Google Pay logo. Please note, some merchants with older POS terminals may have trouble with processing payments via mobile wallets but it does not hurt to try if the Interac® Flash logo is present!


Paying with Google Pay

With your smartphone:

  1. Unlock your phone.
  2. Hold your phone over the terminal until you see a blue checkmark on the screen.

With your wearable:

  1. On your watch, open the Google Wallet app.
  2. Hold your watch over the contactless payment terminal until you hear a sound or feel a vibration from your watch.


When paying within apps or online checkouts and internationally:

Some apps and websites may offer Google Pay when the Google Pay logo is present at checkout. Currently, your Motor City Flex Card can only be used for online and in-app payments via a mobile wallet for Canadian merchants that have Interac Debit e-Commerce payments enabled. Select the Google Pay option and see if your Motor City Debit card is available. More information and a current listing of merchants can be found below.

International online and in-person transactions that use the Mastercard® network are also not currently available to be done through Google Pay. This is why you won’t see the Mastercard® logo on the mobile wallet card image.

For any Mastercard® transaction types not currently supported through the mobile wallets, please use your physical card for these transactions.
