Vice President, Human Resources and Culture
Job Function:
The Vice President, Human resources (VP, HRC) will lead the Human Resources and Culture team for Motor City Community Credit Union (MCCCU). You will partner with senior leaders to ensure policies, workforce management, labour relations and people strategies deliver on business objectives & plans.
This role has direct ownership of all human resources and culture functions and reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and design MCCCU’s human resource and people strategy and functions
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the human resources team as it delivers on departmental priorities
- Manage the labor relations requirements of all collective agreements and play a leadership role in collective bargaining
- Establish forecasting workforce & succession planning processes and practices to drive proactive people planning and readiness for business growth
- Structure and implement competitive compensation packages, design recruitment, retention programs, and training programs
- Review HR KPI data analysis with leaders to drive informed decision-making and performance tracking against people strategies

- Ensure MCCCU is in full compliance with employment related laws and related legal requirements, ensure all internal policies are adhered to, and promote MCCCU’s culture and workplace ethic
- Lead staffing development plans
- Develops and implements departmental budget
- Work across functions at managerial level and above, optimize HR management and administration mechanism, continuously improving automation efficiency to meet business development needs
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
- University Degree in Human Resource, CHRP or relevant field and accreditations
- Ten (10) or more years of experience in a senior human resources function
- Extensive HR management experience especially working with executive members in addressing complex and organization-wide issues
- Strong understanding of Canadian employment laws and regulations
- Experience in union negotiations beneficial
- Excellent listener with verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills
- Excellent judgement, relationship management and impact and influence capability with a demonstrated ability to collaborate with people across organizations
- Ability to prioritize tasks with organizational awareness; understanding of who to engage in order to identify solutions and resolve issues
- High degree of personal integrity in order to recognize and manage access to sensitive information about MCCCU, our strategy, results, people and challenges
- Experience in tactical execution, goal setting and measurement
